USS Oriskany October, 1966
I recommend viewing at 720p resolution and full screen if possible.

This is a broadcast quality film I recently found at the National Archives of news clips that were shot aboard the USS Oriskany in early Oct, 1966. This series of clips opens with Cdr Bellinger hamming it up a bit and describing how he shot down a Mig 21 on Oct 9th to weapons officer LTjg Thurman. Clips show the arrival of Sec Def Robert McNamara and the award dinner for Bellinger attended by McNamara and other VIP's such as the CJCS, General Earle Wheeler and CincPac, Adm U. S. Grant Sharp. Remainder of the just under 11 minute video show McNamara interveiwed by civilian news media, making ready and launching McNamara's C-1A Trader. Also view a chopper lift off and circle the Oriskany and film her along with other ships in the task force.

Page from Capt. Iarrabino's Guest Book

For some reason, the Captain's guest book that was signed by SecDev and the other brass has the wrong date noted.  The date should read Oct 12, 1966
